Built around the letter.
Every typeface begins with the shape of a single letter. Before weight, width, or style, the question is how a Malayalam form should look, move, and sit beside its neighbours.
What it means
- Letterforms drawn deliberately for Malayalam, not borrowed from Latin skeletons
- Curves, terminals, and joins treated as the character of the face
- Conjuncts and ligatures designed as part of one system
How it shows
- A clear point of view you can recognise at a glance

Why it matters
Malayalam rewards careful drawing. Its rounded forms, stacked conjuncts, and dense text colour mean that small decisions in the outlines change how a whole line reads.

Rooted in Malayalam.
Malayalam is written, painted, carved, and printed across Kerala, on book covers, shopfronts, newspapers, and film titles. Independent type design here draws from that visual language rather than ignoring it.
